NRCT participates in the Annual Meeting of Global Research Council (GRC) 2023
Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), and delegation participated in the Annual Meeting of Global Research Council (GRC) 2023 from 29th May to 1st June 2023. This year marked the 11th edition of the GRC Annual Meeting, co-hosted by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) of the Netherlands and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) of Brazil, under the main themes of "Rewards and Recognition" and "Climate Change and Climate Change Initiative." The meeting brought together over 60 research funding agencies from various regions around the world, including:
- Asia-Pacific: 10 countries, 12 organizations
- Europe: 20 countries, 25 organizations
- Americas: 6 countries, 8 organizations
- Middle East and North Africa: 6 countries, 6 organizations
- Sub-Saharan Africa: 12 countries, 13 organizations
During 29th to 30th May 2023, there were side events held on five topics, including:
- Research Integrity and security: Exploring Funding Agency Roles in Supporting Responsible Internationalization and Reciprocity
- Leveraging Transdisciplinary Research for Community Impact: Global South Experiences
- The Race and Ethnicity Dimension of Inclusion and Diversity in the Research Ecosystem
- Supporting Researchers at Risk
- Promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in Research
Dr. Wiparat and NRCT delegation exchanged views with participants from various regional funding agencies. They also had the opportunity to meet with Prof. Marcel Levi, the President of the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and the meeting host, to exchange opinions on research funding and future collaboration between the Netherlands and Thailand.
Furthermore, Associate Professor Dr. Anak Khantachawana, from the Faculty of Engineering at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, represented the NRCT in presenting a side event on "Thailand Research to Global Research under Economic Security: Needs and Challenges." Additionally, Associate Professor Dr. Dusit Athinuwat from the Faculty of Science and Technology at Thammasat University represented the NRCT in the meetings on "Leveraging Transdisciplinary Research for Community Impact: Global South Experiences" and "Promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in Research."
On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Patamawadee Pochanukul, the President of Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), also attended the GRC Annual Meeting 2023 in The Hague, Netherlands, during the same period.
