NRCT Leads Young Researchers to the Global Stage at the Science and Technology in Society Forum 2024 - The 21st Annual Meeting

The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, participated in the Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum 2024 - The 21st Annual Meeting, held from October 6 to 8, 2024, at the Kyoto International Conference Center (ICC Kyoto), in Kyoto, Japan.

During the event, NRCT was honored by the presence of Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, and Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, who presented honorary certificates to the Young Leaders, a group of emerging researchers selected by NRCT to attend the STS forum 2024. These researchers represent five distinct fields:

  1. Engineering – Dr. Ornluck Phichitkul, Suranaree University of Technology
  2. Virology and Cell Technology – Dr. Papon Muangsanit, National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC)
  3. Environmental Management – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Methinee Yujoren, Prince of Songkla University
  4. Computer Engineering – Dr. Janejira Jaimung, Chiang Mai University
  5. Environmental Technology – Dr. Pavita Boonrath, Prince of Songkla University (Phuket Campus)

Dr. Wiparat Dee-ong noted that the Young Leaders selected to participate in the Regional Action on Climate Change (RACC16) will engage in networking activities, including the highlight event, “Dialogue between Young Leaders and Nobel Laureates,” alongside other meetings at the STS forum 2024. This opportunity serves as a significant career path for young researchers supported by NRCT, which continuously strives to enhance the capabilities of Thai researchers at all levels.
